| Description | Letters from John Buchanan, Boulton & Watt’s clerk at Soho Manufactory, from 1780 to 1785. All but one of the letters are to James Watt, and all were written by Buchanan at Soho and sent to Watt either in Cornwall or at his Birmingham home, Harper’s Hill.
The miscellaneous nature of the bundle suggests that these letters were originally part of a more general series of letters kept by Watt. At some point the letters were brought to Soho, and Henry Hazleton notes them in his list of the contents of the Watt Room. They later became mixed up with the memoranda of agreements with employees. |
