| Description | Letters from William Forman from 1791 to 1796, and a letter each from 1799 and 1800. Forman was the Clerk, and later the Head Clerk, in the engine firm’s counting house at Soho Manufactory. He was also responsible for the copying press firm, James Watt & Co. These letters were written by Forman to James Watt and James Watt Jr. while they were in London.
Watt and Watt Jr. brought the letters to Soho, but how and where they were orignally kept is not clear, as they were found among the bundles of agreements with workmen.
The letters are dated as follows: No. 1. 1791 Nos. 2-4. 1792 Nos. 5-7. 1793 Nos. 8-9. 1794 Nos. 10-17. 1795 Nos. 18-23. 1796 No. 24. 1799 No. 25. 1800 |
