| Description | Letters from James Lawson from 1781 to 1783 and 1786 to 1787. Lawson was one of Boulton & Watt’s longest-serving and most experienced engine erectors and engineers. For this period he was based almost entirely in Cornwall, with a visit to Scotland in 1786. The letters make it clear that Lawson wrote several other letters that are not in this bundle. The letters are divided as follows: No. 1. 1781 No. 2. 1782 Nos. 3-18. 1783 No. 19-24. 1786 No. 25. 1787 |
