| Description | Letters from James Lawson from 1796. Lawson was one of Boulton & Watt’s longest-serving and most experienced engine erectors and engineers. These letters are written from all over the country, the North West, where Lawson was Boulton & Watt’s agent, Yorkshire, London, Southampton, Newcastle etc., as Lawson spent much of 1796 gathering information on pirate engines for the various legal actions that Boulton & Watt were pursuing. From 1796 Lawson’s letters were kept in yearly bundles. |
