| Description | Letters from James Lawson from 1798. Lawson was one of Boulton & Watt’s longest-serving and most experienced engine erectors and engineers. Most of these letters are written from Manchester, where Lawson was Boulton & Watt’s agent, the North West and Yorkshire. In this year Lawson also made journies to South Wales, London and Cornwall. At the end of the year he travelled to Carlisle, Newcastle and on into Scotland. From 1796 Lawson’s letters were kept in yearly bundles. |
