| Description | Letters from James Lawson from 1799. Lawson was one of Boulton & Watt’s longest-serving and most experienced engine erectors and engineers. Most of these letters are written from Manchester, where Lawson was Boulton & Watt’s agent, the North West and Yorkshire. Lawson began this year in Scotland, and he also made a journey South Wales. At the end of the year he travelled to Newcastle and back to Scotland. From 1796 Lawson’s letters were kept in yearly bundles. |
