| Description | Letters from Robert Muir from 1783 to 1789. Muir was an engine erector who worked first in Cornwall, then in the North West and Scotland. At some point between May and July 1786 Muir changed the spelling of his name from Moor to Muir. This may have been connected to his relocation to Scotland. These letters, which are addressed to James Watt and John Southern, were scattered throughout the collection. They may have been removed from bundles of general incoming correspondence. The letters are dated as follows: No. 1. 1783 No. 2. 1785 Nos. 3-7. 1786 Nos. 8-11. 1787 No. 12. 1788 No. 13. 1789 |
