| Description | Letters from John Rennie from 1821, and from his sons George and John Jr. from 1821 to 1829. John Rennie worked as a millwright and engineer in London, and he acted as a London agent for Boulton Watt & Co. He died in 1821, but his business was carried on by his sons George and John. The bundle also contains letters from their foreman John Walker from 1821 (note that from after John Rennie Senior’s death, Walker’s letters were kept separately). There are also letters from George and John’s assistant Thomas M. Cunningham, and their brother Matthew B. Rennie. The letters are addressed Boulton Watt & Co. and James Watt Jr. There are also letters addressed to James Brown of Boulton Watt & Co.’s London office and John Mosley of the London banking agency. Brown and Mosley forwarded these letters to Soho.
