Date5 Jul 1796
DescriptionEnclosing (b) below.
Has received the account, and encloses his first payment. Thinks the sum is too big: the law expenses are “enormous”; he is being charged as if he had a 42 horse engine but it is only 38½; understood that he would be made an allowance because although he intended to have a Boulton & Watt engine they could not make him one in the time he wanted it. Enclosing a comparison between his engine and J. Simpson’s.
