| Description | Letters and papers about the Bombay Mint, its machinery and the steam engines supplied by Boulton Watt & Co., from 1821 to 1824. Boulton Watt & Co. also made some of the mint machinery at Soho under their name, but the rolling mill was supplied by the Rennies, and the melting and refining equipment by Maudslay Sons & Field. The mint was established by the East India Company at the same time as the Calcutta Mint. For drawings of the Bombay Mint see portfolios 5/708a—c. |
