| Description | Transcripts of letters and memoranda concerning a pumping engine for the West India Dock, London, from 1825 to 1830. The engine was ordered in 1825, but, as it was not urgently required, it was suspended due to pressure of work at Soho in Nov. 1826. It was finally completed in 1828. The majority of the letters are between Boulton Watt & Co. and George and John Rennie and their foreman John Walker.
For drawings of the engine, see Portfolio 5/664c. |
