| Description | The Business Letter Books nos. 3/82, 83, 84 and 85 covering 1780 to 1786, the volume of "Old Letters, Chiefly of Mr. Boulton" no. 3/168, and the "Performance of Cornish Engines - Engine Calculation" 1783-1791 no. 3/468 were all originally part of the Muirhead Papers, a deposit of James Watt family material made in 1921 by L. B. C. L. Muirhead. How these came to be removed from Boulton & Watt's business records is not known, but it seems likely that James Watt Jr. removed them at some point and took them home. When the Muirhead Papers came to the Library these volumes were re-united with the rest of the Boulton & Watt records. |
