20 horse power double-acting crank engine, with 23¾ inch cylinder, 5 foot stroke, parallel motion. Engine formerly belonged to the Hereford Flour Co.

Reverse longitudinal section of the engine house, plan of the engine and boiler houses, cross-section of the engine and boiler houses, cross-section of the engine house and crank framing etc. (4 drawings on 2 sheets). All the drawings bear letter codes.

For the Liverpool Water Works. Pumping engine, Bootle. The engine was originally a sun and planet engine, made for the Hereford Flour Co. in 1801-1802. However it was never erected in Hereford, and was sold the to Liverpool Water Works in 1804. It was erected in Bootle in 1805, and the sun and planet gear was replaced by a crank. The company had previously bought a 2 horse bell crank engine in 1801 [see Portfolio 5/1110a].
