"The Snow Hill Engine":

[Two views of Matthew Wasbrough's controversial rotative Newcomen engine, built for James Pickard's mill at Snow Hill in Birmingham. The drawings may date from circa 1780-1783, as Wasbrough's original pawl and ratchet mechanism was replaced by a crank towards the end of 1780. Thomas Southern visited the engine circa 1782-1783 and Watt recorded the details that Southern gave him in his "No. 2 Blotting & Calculation Book" [4/1]. The details of the machinery that Southern gave to Watt differ from those noted on the first drawing.]

William Symington's engine at Mr. Walker's, Bakers Row, Coldbath Fields, London - section of the engine, not dated (circa 1792).

Francis Thompson's Patent Engine to work a rotary Motion on an improved Plan - coloured ground plan, 1793 (marked much later in pencil "suppose at Daintry & Co.'s, Macclesfield").

Jeffries' engine at Pontop Pike Colliery - coloured side view of the engine and winding and elevations of the winding barrel, marked in pencil "suppose at work in 1795".

Hornblower & Maberly's engines:
Isaac Manwaring's "Pendulum Steam Engine" - coloured plans and elevations, marked in pencil "Suppose Mainwaring's Engine, patent right of which was purchased by Maberly, copied in 1796".

Sections and plan of Hornblower & Maberly's engine, marked on the back "Mr. Peareth's engine".

"Differents View of Hornblower & Maberly's Engine, as erected upon Mr. Peareth's colliery at Chartershaugh in the County of Durham, drawn by James Bailey, 13 Jan. 1796" - coloured and sections and plan, with a section of the cylinder of Robert Cameron & Humphrey Jeffreys' "Improved Engine" on the same sheet.
