For James Kennedy. Cotton mill [?], Manchester. This engine used the cylinder from McConnel & Kennedy's 16 horse power sun and planet engine [see Portfolio 5/151], which had been left over when that engine had been increased to 20 horse power in 1798. The concern later became James Kennedy & Co.
