For the Honourable the Commissioners of the Navy. The Admiralty originally invited tenders for new pumping engines for Chatham Dockyard in Jul. 1868. However it was later decided to re-use two high pressure horizontal engines which had originally been fitted in H. M. S. Forth, and firms were invited to tender again to the revised specification in 1869, when they also tendered for the dock sluices.
