Inverted vertical compound engine, with 27 inch and 50 inch cylinders, 3 foot stroke.

"Proposed Arrangement of New Pumping Machinery" - 2 partially coloured drawings showing engine, pump well, culverts etc.

Copies of 1863 drawings made in Mar. 1889:
Longitudinal section through engine house, pump well and culverts; steam engine and pump foundations showing arrangement of culverts, sluices etc. for emptying No. 11 Dock and raising water into the steam basin; connecting culvert to dock etc. showing sluice etc. These drawings were copied from drawings made in 1863, which James Watt & Co. borrowed from Portsmouth. The details of the engine were presumably added by Watt & Co. in 1889.

Working barrels of cylinders, centrifugal pumps, connecting rods and piston rods and crossheads, details of cylinders and pistons etc., details of A frame, details of high pressure slide valve, details of air pump suction valve, details of low pressure slide valve and case, guide brackets on A frames, 2 inch cylinder relief valve, cylinder escape valve, receiver and exhaust pipes, crank disc for high pressure cylinder - partially coloured drawings; rectangular steam pipe on high pressure slide case; eccentric rod for air pump, general arrangement of drain pipes and steam to covers and jackets etc., expansion brackets and gearing, brackets and gearing for starting valves, general arrangement of gearing for expansion and stop and starting valves (elevations and plan), girders and blocks for vertical pump shafts, top cover plate - partially coloured drawings. All these drawings bear letter codes.

Set of numbered drawings, May 1889:
No. 1 - Plans of the foundations; No. 2 - Longitudinal section of foundations for engines and pumps; No. 3 - Cross-sections of foundations for engines and pumps; No. 4 - Sections of Foundations. All these drawings are partially coloured and bear letter codes.

Also rough sketch of working gear etc.; original portfolio cover with note about the arrangement of the engine, 2 small sketches of crank and vertical shafts and list of the drawings stuck inside.

Also "Proposed Culvert Between Pumping Stations": general arrangement of gearing for penstock No. 53a; details of cover plates etc. to penstock and manhole - 2 partially coloured drawings, Apr. 1890.
