For the West India Dock Co., London. This new pump replaced one of the pumps originally worked by the 36 inch engine erected in 1828, following complaints by the firm that the engine was not raising the amount of water it should have been doing. The report details experiments made to ascertain if the engine could maintain a certain head of water in the docks - this followed the installation of the new pump. This copy of the report was kept in the London office and sent to Soho at a later date. It became separated from the rest of the West India Dock material and was originally numbered as Portfolio AV73a.
