The top letter in the packet has '1781 to 1785' written on it in pencil
The letters were arranged in chronological order with the most recent letter first. They have now been placed in chronological order beginning with the earliest, and renumbered.
There is a conspectus of old and new numbers at the end of the list.
The letters have a docket by James Watt with the name of the correspondent and the date, but none have summaries.
