'Mr de Luc. 1784 to 1802'. The '4' has been added in red ink, altering a '2'. A note has been added in the same hand 'Mr de Luc died in 1817'.
In red ink has been written 'Letters no. 1 to 38.'
The letters are numbered in red ink.
Most of the letters are written in French.
The letters were arranged in roughly chronological order witrh the most recent first. They have now been placed in chronological order beginning with the earliest, and renumbered.
The letters have a docket by James Watt with the name of the correspondent and the date, with the occasional summary.
