| Description | Bundle of 79 letters and papers, mostly from James Davies and James Crummer to James Watt, 1806, and copy press letters from Watt to Crummer and others, and other papers relevant to the Welsh and Wyeside estates.These were originally enclosed in a portfolio of cloth, card and marbled paper, labelled on the spine: ‘ Welsh 1806 ’. The papers were arranged in chronological order and this has been retained. They were not numbered. Most letters have a docket by James Watt giving the correspondent and date and sometimes a summary of the subject of the letter, which is given below in italics. On some of the letters, James Watt jr. has expanded the information given by his father on the docket.
