02 June 1808: Condolence on his sprain. New purchases. Cottage to be mine. Tydabean rent high. No acr[e]age being sent of Hanter, cannot judge of it. Badland plans in hand to provide spars etc. To get the sheepstealer & old woman out. Welsh to be cautioned ab[ou]t expence of Dold[owlo]d rent. His acc[oun]t wanted.
19 June 1808: Have just received his accounts, not yet examined closely. Manor of Newcastle, want further explanation. Hanter title land for the money would not chuse to buy more in that valley. Observe the sheepstealer's fate, to get out his widow, also Cencoed & Clyn glyb Tenants. Leave it to James to determine about Welch. My coming to Wales uncertain.
21 June 1808: Am not willing to advance money on Tydabean. nor to purchase without Guaranty. James returned.
24 June 1808: Have forwarded Drawings & directions for Badland house p[e]r Worcester coach to [Mr]Newton. Old materials from Kinnert not to be used. Oeconomy recommended, complain of Lewis's bill for Doldowlod. Stack of timber at each place to be measured. Have little confidence in Mr Maund.
