20 December 1813. Am pleased with what I see of Ferrier. Observations on his acc[oun]ts. Recommend sowing plenty of turnips & to attend to stock more than to corn. Am sorry there is so much land on the market. Mr Grove etc. Mrs W[att] sent parcel to Mrs Davies. 27 January 1814. Received his of 6th & 19th. Posts interrupted by snow etc. Have received some game he sent. Am averse to buying the L?S?etty. Query what has been done with Mr Webb? 11 February 1814. I have not heard from him with my accounts & want information what he has done with Mr Webb etc. 28 February 1814. Have his of 24th. with d[ra]ft for £207.19s. 8d. as ballance [sic] due me. Have also received his accounts. Have also received Mr Davies' letter & account, not yet examined. Shall write Mr Ferrier. 01 March 1814. To William Ferrier: Directions about his farming, especially to use all his endeavours to reinstate the Land, especially by manure, Lime & draining. If has not strength enough to bring home lime enough to hire the carriage if he can. To trust more to stock for profit than to corn. ?Thin of wool. Care of hedges and roads. Have not yet fully examined his accounts. |
