| Description | Arrived from Paris last night & found my letters. Saw the Bust of my father safe at Paris. Arago has presented it to the Institut on Monday last, with an appropriate address. The inscription voted to be on the Pedestal in the words proposed by Arago. Prefers 'offert' to 'presente'. The Bust much admired by the Institut, and my liberality commended. Arago promises to write officially. Is finishing a life of the Astronomer & Mayor of Paris Baily for the Institut. Remains in London until May & then goes to Italy to spend the Summer on the Banks of the Lago Maggiore with Count Boromeo. Arago & Lord Brougham still on bad terms, and did not meet during his L[or]dships late visit to Paris. |
