DescriptionThe Muirhead papers included the title deeds to three estates of property in Harborne which were by 1815 in the possession of Theodore Price of Harborne. In 1815, he mortgaged property to John Harman of London, merchant, and William Dickinson of King Weston, Somerset. In 1822, he mortgaged property to Samuel Rolleston, of the Isle of Wight. (One of Price's daughters, Ann Green Price, married a James Rolleston in 1820).

The connection of these properties with James Watt jr. has not been established.

The title deeds had, at some time, been arranged in a chronological sequence without reference to the separate estates. They have now been organised into the three estates, and the deeds relating to the two mortgages in 1815 1nd 1822 have been placed separately at the end of the list.
Related MaterialThe Watt and Muirhead papers were microfilmed by Adam Matthews publications as part of 'Industrial Revolution: A Documentary History'. 'Muirhead I' was published in Series One: parts 6 and 8, in 1997. The 'James Watt papers' were published in 'Series Three', 1999.
