Madam,
On the death of Mr Yates, I informed Mr Bedford, that the box of papers, in my keeping were not to be used by me, but were ready at any time, to be delivered, to his executors or representatives.
Mr Bedford replied, that he would communicate what I said, & give directions accordingly.
Since that time, no notice or application, has been made to me, & the box with the papers, have remained here, unopened & untouched, & are ready at any time to be delivered up.
I believe, my arrangements with Mr Yates, was to give him interest on the money with which he purchased them so long as I used them for the purpose of a Warwickshire History; and if the work proceeded, & was accomplished, certain copies of that work.
I consider myself responsible for such interest from the time I received the box to the time of his death; tho I have never used them But as I gave notice to Mr Bedford on Mr Yates death, that I wished, & was ready, to return them, & have only waited for such demand, I do not consider myself responsible, for any time, which has since elapsed
I am Madam
Your obedt servt
J Eardley Wilmot
