Soho 28 June 1842
John Coles Symes Esqre.
My dear Sir
I am much annoyed that the Probate is not sent back from Wellington. I wrote to Mr. Nock about it last night & presume he will in return have the civility to give some tidings of it. The moment it gets into my hands & I can find conveyance, it shall go forward to Hales Owen & to your good self.
Mr. Wilkinson handed me, before leaving, particulars of all Cheques drawn to the time of your departure. There have since been drawn two on the Branch Bank viz:
to John Crockett (House A/c malt Old acc) £24. 0. 0
" Jas. Alston & Son Mint O/a Fine Gold 37. 14. 1
The afliction I apprehended has fallen on Mr. & Mrs. Westley who lost their little Girl (& the youngest is always the pet) on Sunday night-but she was a general favourite, and to confess a weakness the loss of a good master and all the parade that followed did not affect me so much.-Believe me
My dear Sir
ever truly yours
C. J. Chubb
