| Description | The 1791 Catalogue of Papers in M. B.’s Counting Room mentions a bundle entitled "Soho Premises" in Box B. However it is not mentioned in any of the subsequent contemporary catalogues, nor is it mentioned in the Assay Office’s inventories in 1921. Therefore this reconstruction must be seen as somewhat tentative.
Much of the material came from the Assay Office Box numbered 342. In this box was found an Assay Office cover which was marked "Soho Premises, Buildings & Land. Relative to the Purchase of the freehold," which suggests that at least some of this material was in the original "Soho Premises" file. However this reconstruction must be viewed as very tentative, especially the placing of Soho House material here. Some of the material that was once in this file is probably now in the "Soho House and Garden" box. |
