| Description | 'Experiments on Carronades.' (This item is a hardback notebook with a card cover. On the cover is written the preceding inscription. The majority of the notebook remains unused. The first page of the notebook has notes on 'Canal proposed from West Bromwich to join the Coventry Canal.' The rest of the notes made are concerned with experiments on Carronades and there are calculations as well as descriptive notes. There are notes on both 68 and 100 pounder Carronades with headings such as; 'Experiments made at the New Battery at Leith with a hundred pounder Carronade, weighing about 50 cwt and of six calibers in length, the first of October 1781.') |
