| Description | (The item is a thin notebook with a brown leather cover. The front of the book has been filled with notes and memorandums whilst the back has been reserved for accounts and calculations. At the beginning of the notebook there are pages of notes on subjects such as; 'A list of Dukes which I should wait upon...' and 'Thoughts on B & F.' There is also a five page report on weighing scales and allegations in London of fraud being rife in the rest of the country.
Found loose in this book were two memoranda describing musical glasses designed by Benjamin Franklin, one marked 'Messrs. Hughes & Co. at the Cockpit Glasshouse, opposite St. Pauls - A Set of musical glasses, such as Mr. Franklin had…' and the other docketed 'Mr. Franklin's directions for making a musical machine.' |
