TitleLetter. Francis Garbett (Knill Court) to Matthew Boulton (Soho).
LevelItem
Date3 December 1795
DescriptionMy dear Sir,
One of the most elegant table and desert service of earthen ware which can possibly be is come safe to Knill; had it not been for the neglect of the carrier, it would have arrived in time for an entertainment my girls gave to some of their relations whilst I was at Birmingham. This will deprive them for some time of the pleasure of shewing to their friends how much they have been honored by your kind attention, the rememberance of which will be renewed every time it sets off our table with its beauty and simplicity. We wish very much you and Miss Boulton would come and receive our thanks in person. We flatter ourselves we could make this place agreeable to you both in summer, when our roads are good and the country delightfull. In the meantime, do us the favour to accept our best compliments and believe me to be, dear sir, your obliged friend,
Francis Garbett
My best wishes to your son, who I presume thinks winter this year a little in his way.
