The reason of our sending these pattn Chains to you, was our being difident whether it was proper that Hyde & Leeds shou'd have the new Chains or not, (they being Chain makers) as such, have left it to your better judgment how to determine, which you'll please to Inform us of, if they have the whole the Inclos'd Invoice is right, but if not enterd in our Books, only memorandum'd.
This morning about 3 OClock I was like Hob just coming out of the Well, by helping to extinguish a fire which broke out in Mr Sawyers Casting shop in Edmund Street, which in a little time consum'd the whole of his Shoping and a part of one room in the House, but was then haply extinguish'd tho' not without considerable damage by pulling & hauling the Goods into the Street many of which were Stole in the Crowd the whole Street was in great confusion for at bout an hour Messrs Capper & Hickmans Shops were in great danger the Gavel end being for some time red hot.
Mrs Mynd & Mrs Egginton continue much the same as their Husbands left 'em St Soho's Walls are within a Days Labour of their destind hight except the Tower & Gavel ends, but the Carpenters are much behind caus'd by want of Timber but that want is now supply'd.
Mrs Boulton, Mrs Walker Mr Walker & Self have had one very merry Game at Whist & beleive we are going to have another to night.
