Dear Sir
It gave me great pleasure to hear of your arrival in England safe from the dangers of the sea Being in a hurry with several other letters when I wrote you last I neglected to inform you, that I have received a letter from Jary who will not have his goods by Havre for the following reasons
Suppose his goods to weigh 25 tons and to Cost

then 1284 Freight to Havre
642 Insurance at 5½ pr Cent

1875 Freight from Havre to Nantes at 75 livres pr ton

He says that He would give above £100 Ster to have them delivered immediately at Nantes or will give £30 extra freight to have them delivered at St Malo-I have wrote to Wilkinson on this subject to know if he will accept the £30 extra to deliver the goods at St Malo or if he will deliver them at Nantes, If he will not a vessel must be got to go directly to Nantes that is if we can gett a passport for two vessels-If he undertakes the business the passport must be to Nantes or St Malo and Havre I expect a letter from him next post
The name of the vessel is the Brigantine Mary, John Williams, Captain Burthen 160 tons navigated by 14 men and Boys-Square sterned with a figure head, to Clear out from Chepstow, loaded with Cylinders, pipes, Boyler plates, and other Cast Iron Copper and brass work for Fire Engines-To return with French Barr Stones for Mills or in Ballast You know the original place of destination was Havre I shall probably have a letter from Wr: to morrow when shall write to you-
I hear that they propose teaching an engine man at Chelsea I wish you would remind them that we have brought Henry williams from Cornwall on purpose because if they do not Chuse to have him we must find him some other job-
In relation to undertaking engines I would not undertake any without it was either for a fixt Sum or a fixed rent we shall be ruined by these delays of payment therefore beg of you first to learn all the necessary particulars and then we shall fix our demand all this provided that the engines otherwise suit us-
