Description"Remarks-on Albion Mill."
[In Matthew Boulton's hand:]
I look upon Parker as an idle good naturd silly fellow that schemes too much & works too little & is not fit for his place
He employs Gwilliam & thereby his department is neglected
He employs our Smiths & Iron fire &c at his nonsense & if these things are sufferd who knows where they will end
Mr Wyatt hath countenanced all this & declind giving us any information although I wrote him
What ever may be now in the room its certain every thing was smuggled away since I came to Town
As we were not worthy of confidence we shall not say anything more than to protest against such proceedings & recommend that ye Compy employ more effectual Agents than Mr Parker
If Mr Jebb or many others had been in Parkers place we should have had no stinking wheat or reputation

[In another hand:]
To make an Offer of the 1/5 Share in the Terms of the Contract at prime Cost, deducting a quota of the Loss at the last Balance Viz Lady Day, or further to put a Name or Appretiation of the loss of the last Quarter-Viz from Lady Day to Midsummer or present time if declined to fix in that Way-to propose the Stock to be valued by proper Persons to be appointed-& if required to allow time for the Payment of the Capital due on the fifth Share
If the above is not accepted to protest against any further enlargement of the Capital or borrowing Money & to declare in the terms of the Contract that we hold our selves no longer responsible
