| Description | INTRODUCTION
This volume is entitled on the front, in William D. Brown’s hand, "1792. M.B. 1791. 1792," and on the spine, in M. R. Boulton’s hand, "M. Boulton (private) Letter Book, 1791 to 1792."
The documents fixed into this volume are arranged in two sequences. At the front (pages 1 to 18) are copies and drafts of letters to various correspondents, dated between 7 Feb. 1791 and 29 May 1792 (1 to 18); and at the back (pages A1 to A65) (the book being turned over, and the back being treated, as it were, as the front) are copies and drafts of letters to Monnéron Frères of Paris, or to partners of that firm individually, dated between 17 Feb. 1791 and 28 Jun. 1792 (19 to 65). The pages in between, amounting to about half the book’s contents, are blank. There is also a loose document (66), which was formerly inserted at page 20.
The documents listed below are all press-copies, except 2, which is a transcript, and 8, 21, 23, and 25, which are drafts. Most of the copies are of originals in Boulton’s own hand, exceptions being noted in the list. All the drafts are in his hand, except 8, which was written by M. R. Boulton. Some of the copies are incomplete.
