Description[Includes transcripts of letters from Colin Mackenzie to Samuel Garbett, 24, 25, and 30 May 1800; the first of these includes a report of a meeting of the committee appointed by the creditors of Samuel Garbett held on 15 May.]

Dear Friend,
When you have leisure, pray be so good as to read the annexed copies of letters from Mr. Mackenzie to me of the 24th and 25th ulto. with copy of minutes of the meetings of creditors on the 23d, and copy of my letter to him of the 30th, by which you will infer that Mr. Hog is no longer trustee for me.
From a consideration of what passed at that meeting I think there is now a good probability that my affairs in Scotland will be brought to an issue soon and in a manner that will be honorable to me.
I wished to have sent these copies to you sooner, but my time has been much employed since the 30th ulto. in writing to Mr. Mackenzie many particulars to lay before the new committee, of which Mr. Hog is not a member. Your proxy to Mr. Mackenzie had not arrived at Edinburgh when the committee met on the 23d May.
I am ever gratefully an[d] affectionately your friend,
Samuel Garbett
Pray keep this sheet of paper.
[The copy letters have not been transcribed.]

Letter. Samuel Garbett [Birmingham] to Matthew Boulton [Soho]. 12 Jun. 1800.
Docketed: 'To lay before meeting of creditors.' (This appears to have been used as a wrapper for the above letter, or perhaps for other documents from which it has been separated.)
Dear Friend,
I have wrote the enclosed to lay before a meeting of creditors at Edinburgh. I wish you may have time to read it between this and Saturday, and then to return it. I will have a copy of it made for you.
I am ever your grateful friend,
Samuel Garbett
