Description[Includes the text of a letter for Boulton to send to Walter Hog.]

Dear Friend,
I wish you would write to Mr. Hog to the following tenor.
I am ever gratefully and affectionately your
Samuel Garbett
Soho, December 29th, 1802.
Mr. Boulton presents compliments to Mr. Hog, whose card of the 22d current he received yesterday, and understands from Mr. Garbett that it would be extremely improper to venture upon conforming to Mr. Gibson's proposal respecting the Carron stock that was assigned by Mr. Gascoigne to Mr. Pocock without the consent of the Thistle Bank and the representatives of Mr. Chace and Mr. Barker, and without the opinion of eminent council in Scotland and England on a distinct case laid before them, stating not only the grounds of Mr. Pocock's claim, but also the claims of the Thistle Bank and Mr. Chace and Mr. Barker. Therefore, without being allowed time for deliberate consideration and advice, I object to Mr. Gibson's proposal.
To Walter Hog, esqr., accomptant, Edinburgh.
