TitleLetter. Matthew Boulton (London) to Matthew Robinson Boulton (Bad Langensalza).
LevelItem
Date8 December 1789
Description(Directed to Johann Christian Wiegleb's.)

Two mails are arived since my last of the 1st instant, and no letter from my dear son: what can it mean? It is true, I heard of you in your road to Eisenach.
The Marquis of Landsdown promised John Garbett his patronage when he went abroad, on condition that he did not marry or turn gambler before he return'd. The marquis is a sensible man and sees as far into consequences and futurity as most men.
I wish to be your friend, but I have a right to expect you will be mine and your own. Pray be explicit and let me hear from you by the return of the post at all events. I am firm in your cause of honor, virtue, and justice, dear Matt, your very affectionate father,
Mattw. Boulton
