TitleCopy letter. Matthew Boulton (Soho) to Pascoe Grenfell (—).
LevelItem
Date20 December 1804
Description(3 ff.)
(Press-copy of an original in William Cheshire’s hand, concluded and signed by Boulton. Formerly attached to a wrapper, which has been torn away.) [I received yesterday a letter from Sir Stephen Cotterell informing me that the report of the Lords [of Privy Council] will be laid before His Majesty in the course of the present week, and then go officially to the Treasury: from former experience, I have reason to fear some delay in that department. I have no partner in my mint business, and therefore no name besides my own can be inserted in the agreement. I am sorry to see such paragraphs in the papers as have lately appeared respecting this copper coinage, which, with your sweeping purchases at the ticketings, will undoubtedly exalt the ore market in Cornwall.]
