This much may be deduced from the contemporary "Index to Correspondence & Documents." One of the references to this file in the Index appears under the entry, "Applications to view the Manufactory vol cY," under which there appears the following pencil note:

indicating that such correspondence before a certain date was filed with the General Correspondence. Unfortunately, the original portfolio has not survived.
