| Description | This file contains letters received by M. R. Boulton from the London agent, R. F. Davis. The letters are mostly addressed to Boulton himself, but there are a few to other people, which were passed on to him. All were written at the London Street office, with the exception of the letter of 13 Jul. 1836, which was sent from Norton Grounds near Chipping Campden, where Davis had gone to be with his wife after the death of their baby girl. A letter from Davis, dated 13 Dec. 1836, is filed with the General Correspondence under the name of Arch. The contents of this file were formerly in a portfolio (164), entitled as follows: Agents Private - London R: F: Davis 1835 to 1837 Under M. R. Boulton's arrangement, this portfolio was filed in Box I. I, "Special Correspondents-Agents." (See the Introduction to the Letters and Papers of M. R. Boulton.) |
