I feel it my duty to apprize you of the death of William Voce Woodward which took place on Tuesday the 4th inst. He had been long confined & his sufferi[ngs,] tho’ he bore them with great patienc[e,] were become such as to render his dissolution very desirable, both to himself & to those about him.
Had it pleased God to spare this poor Boy to his family, he had already evincd a degree of judgment of industry & of forethought, which they ['had' struck through] fondly hoped might one day compensate in some measure their severe loss in his excellent Father—but it has been otherwise ordaind & they bow in silence.
Mrs. Woodward had an attack about a month since, which much impaird her faculties both of mind & body: She has only partially recoverd & is not expected long to survive her Grandson
The other Children are well & their Aunt Considering the extreme fatigue & [a]nxiety She has endured, tolerable.
