| Description | "To announce the death of his father." (Dated at 29 Old Steine.)
29 Old Steine Brighton 29th Jany. 1823 My dear Sir I have the painful task of informing you of the severe loss we have sustained by the death of my most excellent father which happened this morning about 20 minutes before 9 o'Clock. For the last fortnight he had been labouring under a considerable difficulty of breathing which by Saturday Morning had increased to a severe fit of Asthma which continued without intermission till his departure. He suffered great distress but happily no acute pain. It is our intention to have my poor father's remains removed to Town to be placed in the vault in which several members of our family lie. We feel it would be asking too much to request you to undertake so long a journey with no other object but should you be in Town or have occasion to come up it would give us much gratification to have so highly an esteemed friend of my late father to join in the mournful ceremony of his funeral Hoping that Mrs. Boulton & your family are quite well I am My dear Sir Your very faithful & obt.
