Mr B Townsend
Sir,
I write to you by desire of M’r. Busch of this Place, whose Son is under your care.
It appears that Mr Busch’s Servant Girl had when she came into his service some symptoms of that filthy & loathsome disorder the itch, which she carefully concealed from the knowledge of the family—the consequence is, that Agnes Busch who slept with the girl a few Nights, while Matthew was at home during the Birmm. Fair week, has caught the disorder, which has led to the discovery M’r. Busch feels it his duty to communicate to you in order that the proper measures may be taken to prevent its spreading in your School in case it shall appear that Matt’w Busch has actually caught the infection; which you will of course investigate with all that delicacy which respects the feelings of the innocent Lad & at the same time so effectually as to preserve, by all practicable means, the high credit of your extensive Seminary.
It will give M’r Busch great pleasure to receive a line from you to certify that our alarms for the safety of your Pupils may subside—or if, unhappily, this cannot be, he will adopt any measures you may recommend in regard to his Son.
I am, respectfully,
Sir, your ob’t huml Servt
Wm Cheshire
