M’r Cornelius Dixon
Dear Sir,
The unhappy State of Mr Boulton’s Health deprives me of the Pleasure of seeing him as often as I cou’d wish I have however had an Opportunity of laying before him this Morning the Contents of your Letter on the Subject of completing the Work began by your People last Summer—on which Mr. Boulton remarks that as it may tend to prevent any Accumulation of Difficulties in settling your Acct, to have the Work finished by your own People he thinks it may be as well for your to send down 2 Persons for that Purpose & those you mention viz, Mitchell & Caley, he has no Objection to. It wou’d have been a Satisfaction to Mr. Boulton if he cou’d have submitted to your own Eye how far he had cause to complain of the Negligence & Inattention of some of the Hands you sent down, in which Case he doubts not you wou’d allow that his Dissatisfaction has not arisen from trifling Considerations.
I am Dear Sir
your most obt hum Serv
Wm Cheshire
PS. Miss Boulton desires me to say that as there is some Work essentially necessary to be done at House late Scale’s, previously to the completion of the Painting, she is of Opinion that instead of sending your People here immediately you had better first drop me a Line signifying when it will be convenient to you to send them down, and I will then say if we shall be prepared.
