Description‘I have been with young Hopkinson this morning about the Coach he gives every discouragement to its being sent here thinking it is much more likely to fetch its value or something towards where it is.
He conceives a coach built by Farmer (whose name appears to be in little estimation with him) six years ago even if it had not been used at all will only sell here as a Glass Coach and that but for £30 – or guineas. He shewed me one built by Hatchett in his best stile very expensively for the late Sir Thos. Boughton, on its first Wheels & those not perceptibly worn for wear which he has been endeavouring in vain to get £100 for. The only chance of getting such a price is he says from one of the new Sheriffs who may want one for his year of Office. He says there are plenty of such things both at Tattersalls & Dixons to be had for £40 or £50 each.
This is very discouraging indeed but if you still determine to send it up I shall if you do not object apply to Farmer to take it in and advertise it there. They ought to take some pains about it.
Your Tandem is mounted & ready to send away at 2 or 3 days notice.’
