TitleLetter. William King (Stourbridge) to William Cheshire (Soho). 17 Apr. 1810.
LevelItem
Date17 Apr 1810
DescriptionFire clay is more liable to warp in burning than common red brick clay, and the colour of it, when burned, is very unpleasant and “would give disgust in a garden or pleasure ground.” The smoothed and polished quarries made of a fine cherry colour would be the cheapest and most appropriate choice for the purpose, but Hill & Waldron do not make them; Oldbury, or its neighbourhood, would be the most likely place to obtain them. They will, however, make the fire clay, if desired. (Signed for Hill & Waldron. Cf. the letter to Hill & Waldron, 12 Apr.)
