| Description | An Adult School, started by Samuel Usher, had existed in Erdington since 1904. The school also offered activities such as a benevolent fund, savings bank, sick club, coal club, social club, cricket and football club, and an old people's club.
Due to the rapid expansion of the school, new facilities for the school were constructed in the mid-1920s. Known as the Folkhouse, located on Harrison Road, Aston, the premises consisted of 2 halls, 2 classrooms, a kitchen and offices.
The building was sold in the late 1960s and a Trust was established by the Midland Adult School Union Council in 1970 to manage the proceeds from the sale of the property for the benefit of schools in the Union. No meetings of trustees were called prior to 1989. |
