DescriptionIn 1954, Barrow Cadbury invited the National Adult School Union to convene a National Conference to consider how new members could be recruited. Membership had been declining since its peak in 1910 when it had nearly 100,000 members. By 1939 membership was 33,000 and by 1954 c. 9000. A conference was held at The Hayes, Swanwick, Derbyshire, hosted by Barrow Cadbury and his daughter Dorothy Cadbury. It was attended by 260 members of the Union from across the country. This edition of 'One and All' contains reports from the conference.
