DescriptionThis volume contains minutes from meetings of the General Committee of the Industrial School, beginning with the meeting in 1847 at which it was decided to begin and build an industrial school. It also contains minutes from the public annual meetings. Pasted into the volume are newspaper cuttings and sections taken from annual reports. It also contains a loose copy of 'Statutory Rules and Orders' for approved schools, dated 1933.

At the front of the volume is a handwritten copy of the conveyance of land in Gem Street by the Governors of King Edward VI's Free Grammar School to the Rectors of St Martin's and St Philip's as a site for the Birmingham Free Industrial School.
